Tokyo's experimental soul band, Wonk, is back with their first album in two years, 'Shades of, ' set to release as a 180g double vinyl. Marking their 10th anniversary, Wonk returns to the soul, jazz, and hip-hop beats that defined their first album 'Sphere'. 'Shades of' is, in essence, a chronicle of Tokyo's beat music scene curated by Wonk. Seven legendary and future artists who have left or will leave their mark on music history have joined forces on this project, resonating with the sound Wonk has crafted. This album, featuring contributions from both domestic and international artists, is a unique creation that only Wonk, as a hub connecting various genres, could produce. Wonk's four members delved deep into their roots in jazz, soul, funk, hip-hop, classical, and pop, reexamining and exploring them to craft the sound of 'Shades of'. After two years of production and collaborations with top artists from around the world, they've created their most ambitious album yet, a landmark in Tokyo's soul and R&B scene. Not only does this album represent the present state of Wonk in 2024, but it will also stand as a valuable chronicle of the times for future listeners. About Wonk:Wonk is an experimental soul band formed in 2013. Their first album 'Sphere' was released in 2016, earning high praise from music media for their innovative approach to jazz, soul, and hip-hop. They've performed in Paris and Berlin, appeared at major festivals in Japan, and collaborated with artists like Jose James and Oscar Jerome. Their discography includes remixes, official covers of The Internet, and participation in a Thelonious Monk tribute album. In 2023, they co-created with Kiefer and 9m88, and in 2024, they collaborated with Jinmenusagi and Toshinobu Kubota. On November 13, 2024, Wonk will release their much-anticipated album 'Shades of'.
