It’s not often that a recording is both a debut album & the culmination of decades of musical experience. Even more unusual may be releasing a record bearing the name of a musician whose own performances do not appear on the disc. Tom Skinner’s Science Project album “First Set†is a rarity in these respects. However, when Oklahoma Red Dirt music pioneer & Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame member Tom Skinner passed away in 2015 his dying wish was that his Wednesday night music showcase gig be continued on his behalf. Skinner’s longtime performing partner, multi-instrumentalist Don Morris, took up the mantle to become the Tom Skinner’s Science Project leader with a core band and a revolving cast of special guests.
