To mark the 100th birthday of Mikis Theodorakis (July 29, 2025), Intuition is releasing a very special album: LOST SONGS - fourteen previously unreleased compositions by the world-renowned Greek composer, presented for the first time in a unique solo piano version by Henning Schmiedt. The Berlin-based pianist and composer describes these newly discovered pieces as follows: "These melodies are so magnificent, you wonder how they didn't already exist. Now we know they actually did." In 2008, a special moment took place at Mikis Theodorakis' studio in Athens: Henning Schmiedt personally played his piano arrangements of the LOST SONGS for the composer. Theodorakis, who remembered some of the pieces but not all, listened attentively, offered comments and suggestions that were directly incorporated into the final versions. As such, LOST SONGS can be considered a posthumously released album. These songs offer a remarkable glimpse into the musical maturity and expressive power of a young Mikis Theodorakis: most of the LOST SONGS were composed in the early 1940s - a fascinating look into the early works of one of the most important composers of the 20th century. The LOST SONGS will be released on CD and 180g vinyl to mark his centenary.
