Ison was born in the mid '10s by Draconian singer Heike Langhans and multi-instrumentalist Daniel Änghede (Hearts Of Black Science, ex-Crippled Black Phoenix). Long out of print, Cosmic Drone was the first output of the then-duo, an album born from Änghede's wish for a "home project".
