The mellow and softer sounds are replaced by a more upbeat and catchy alternative rock album, playing with pop, psych, kraut and synth rock elements.
Nikolaisen is one of the most relevant artists on the Norwegian alternative scene, binding the art and music world together, and a legend both as a solos artist as well as her past in Serena Maneesh. Her broad variety of collaborators have lead to an equally broad audience growing for every release and show she does. "Social Works" is an impressive new step in an outstanding career - taking it up in tempo and volume, but stripping the expression down to a trio format on stage, backed by synths and drum machines.
