Harvey Mason Changing Partners
Changing Partners is a straight-ahead jazz trio album by the legendary Grammy-nominated drummer and composer Harvey Mason, one of the most recorded drummers of all time in any genre. A former member of Herbie Hancock's Headhunters band - for whom he co-wrote the hit 'Chameleon' - and a co-founder of the contemporary jazz group Fourplay, Mason leads different trios using a rotating cast of musical collaborators; they include jazz luminaries Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke, Dave Grusin, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, and Buster Williams. Blending fresh interpretations of beloved jazz standards ('Sweet And Lovely') alongside original material ('Midnight Stroll'), Mason has created an album he says was "built with love." A vibrant celebration of the piano trio's importance in the history of jazz, Changing Partners also affirms the enduring legacy of the Great American Songbook while testifying to Mason's incredible chameleon-like versatility and quest for musical excellence.
