Doug Gomez is an NYC head well known by those with an ear to the Afro Latin and deep house world. He branches out here with his own new label, Merecumbe Recordings, which kicks off with the first in a new series, Signals - some of the tunes from which have already been getting dropped by tastemakers like Louie Vega and DJ Spinna. Things kick off with the seriously catchy vibes of 'Baby Powda' and the seductive depths of 'Vibe Shifter' and on the B-side, guaranteed Afro Latin anthem 'Ritmo Sagrado' - a standout collaboration with Jersey's Conway Kasey - gets asses shaking in no time. This fine inaugural 12' shuts down with the soul-stirring 'Dulce Vita' by Gomez alongside Italian maestro Pietro Nicosia.
