Cliched, over-used, empty, meaningless; these words are often said when you hear the phrase, "It is always darkest just before the dawn". And why is that? Is it because choosing to "hope" feels impossible? Are we simply too tired to work towards something greater than ourselves? Or, could it be that no one understands our "darkness"? How can one promise a "dawn" without knowing the depth of the "darkness"? Admittedly, the phrase is, indeed, shallow. If it is not given the proper weight, time, and care, the words become vehicles to further us into despair rather than rescue us from it. So, how do we reclaim the dawn from the darkness? This is the question that this record, "The Darkness Before the Dawn" attempts to answer. Blending themes of Christianity with a rock-ballad format, it tackles depression, self-care, and anxiety head on and unflinchingly.
