Boards of Canada Inferno

Boards of Canada return with Inferno, their first new album in thirteen years. The record continues the duo’s signature melodies and atmospheric sound, while expanding on the darker tones explored on Tomorrow’s Harvest and the influences featured in Societas X Tape, their 2019 NTS mix for Warp Records’ 30th anniversary. The album also features a greater use of speech soundbites throughout its seventy-minute runtime. Inferno will be available as a limited red translucent 2LP vinyl edition in a triple gatefold sleeve with a 16-page booklet, alongside a standard black 2LP vinyl edition and CD version with a 20-page booklet.

Guided by Voices’ last album Thick Rich And Delicious (October 2025) was praised by NPR’s All Things Considered and ranked #1 on Magnet Magazine’s Best Albums of 2025 list. The single “We Outlast Them All” from their latest release Crawlspace Of The Pantheon serves as an anthemic victory lap on album #44 from the indie rock veterans. Robert Pollard told Rolling Stone: “ 'We Outlast Them All' could be our 'We Are The Champions' but it's not necessarily about us. It's about anyone who perseveres over a long period of time.” On Crawlspace Of The Pantheon: “I worked much more diligently on this set of lyrics. I chiseled away at lines and sections and phrasings... I wanted them to have an overall emotionally conceptual feel. At times it feels somewhat autobiographical.”
