Notable vinyl releases out this week - 20 October (2023)

At Zeenath Parallel Heavens finds Black to Comm contemplating the hybridity within each and every one of us, be it sexual, racial, cultural, language, and beyond. Richter mirrors personal dualities by employing a combination of sounds he created and manipulated samples, blurring their boundaries. This time these sources were pushed to the extremes as he explored contrasts of these combined sonic pallets.

The highly anticipated new album from blink-182, featuring the group's iconic lineup together again – Mark Hoppus [bass, vocals], Tom DeLonge [guitar, vocals], and Travis Barker [drums]. The trio recorded ONE MORE TIME... over the course of 2022 and 2023 in the midst of their blockbuster reunion tour, which sold out arenas, amphitheaters, and stadiums across the world. ONE MORE TIME… features 17 new songs that capture the band at the top of their game, layering in themes of tragedy, triumph, and most importantly, brotherhood.

British guitar band Bombay Bicycle Club's sixth album, produced by vocalist/guitarist Jack Steadman at The Church Studios in North London and then back at the band's own studio. It features an eclectic host of guest vocalists that perfectly encapsulates the breadth of the band's widespread appeal. Damon Albarn, Jay Som, Nilufer Yanya and Holly Humberstone all lend their voices across the course of the record, with a fifth special guest releasing a song with the band later this Summer.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of CHVRCHES critically-acclaimed debut album 'The Bones of What You Believe', they are releasing a newly remastered version. The album spawned seven singles including their massive alternate hit "The Mother We Share". The 2LP/2CD version features previously unreleased songs, four from the album session, including "Manhattan" along with five live songs recorded at Ancienne Belgique.

Dylan LeBlanc's fifth album, a semi-autobiographical concept album centered on the character of Coyote, a man on the run from his past.

Emma Anderson, co-founder of Lush, releases her debut solo album. One of the most underrated British songwriters to emerge from the era that encompassed shoegaze and Britpop, she has teamed up with producer James Chapman (aka Maps) for this collection that combines effervescent electronic pop with psych and folk textures with lyrics covering themes such as confronting your fears, embracing independence and moving on in life. Left with songs and bits of music originally intended for the band, she began working with cellist and string arranger Audrey Riley and Robin Guthrie, formerly of the Cocteau Twins, both of whom encouraged her to sing her own songs.

Spending the past few years working as an in-demand composer and sound designer – writing music for ballet, film and video games – 'Bolted' was recorded over the past year in a warehouse factory space in Barnes' home city of Liverpool. Across its 11 tracks he dives deeper into his unique sonic vocabulary to weave together a set of tracks that sounds equally muscular and bleak, haunting and euphoric. As ever in his music, melancholy and joy, monochrome and colour, past and future all feel ambiguous. Emotions shift from moment to moment, the differences between digital and acoustic instruments more smeared than ever: a queering of time, space and sonics that feels both playful and totally vital.

Glen Hansard presents All That Was East Is West Of Me Now, his first solo album in 5 years. The album demonstrates the Oscar-winning singer-songwriter's unique ability to blend Irish folk with modern rock & the punch of his storied live shows, of which The Guardian says, "Hansard's powerful voice, whether raw with passion or tender with regret, shines above arrangements bursting with swagger. "

As long as she can remember, Jane Remover has practiced her own autonomy as much as possible. The nineteen year old songwriter is an omnivorous listener that produces everything herself. She has been lauded by fans and writers alike, for accidentally creating entire genres in the wake of her prolific two-year run. Census Designated is a staggering display of maturation in every aspect when compared to her previous presentation, to a degree that makes it few and far between in the world of albums. Despite the darker palette, Jane steps into a technicolor clarity for the first time. The album was made in both studios and at home-with recordings from Studio North (Kensington in Philadelphia) mixes from Kayla Reagan and mastered by Hector Vega. A photo of her standing bareback while facing away towards the high plains, serves as the cover art for an album where she manages to simultaneously divulge her most confessional moments yet, and captivate the listener with unanswerable questions.

For their third album, Bobbie, Pip Blom, the band’s namesake and main writer, decided to rip it up and start again. After making her name as one of the brightest indie rock singers around through two albums and a lauded live show honed over gruelling years of touring, the new album sees her and the band take a delightful left turn into thumping, carefree synth pop.

SAVED! Is an apocalyptic revelation on the complex, sometimes ugly, always nonlinear process of healing. Herein, Reverend Kristin Michael Hayter documents an earnest attempt to achieve salvation through the tenets of charismatic Christianity, focusing on the Pentecostal-Holiness Movement, which dictate that one's closeness to God is demonstrated through transcendental personal experience. Sonically and thematically, the record is both a logical conclusion to and a significant departure from Hayter's previous work as Lingua Ignota

Salt-N-Pepa - "Very Necessary" / Very Necessary is the fourth studio album by American hip hop group Salt-N-Pepa, first released in 1993. In celebration of it's 30th Anniversary, this 2LP reissue is being released on black vinyl.

From UK breakout star to global icon. Sampha's influence is felt throughout contemporary culture. His work expands across multiple disciplines, with previous creative partnerships including the fashion designer Grace Wales Bonner and filmmaker Kahlil Joseph. In 2023, he returns with new and highly anticipated album Lahai.

Long out of print on vinyl, Tyler, The Creator's classic album Wolf finally receives an official repress. The album is pressed on two pink-colored LPs in a gatefold jacket with printed inner sleeves and a 12"x 12" insert. The package also includes an oversized sticker of Tyler's face.

Hackney Diamonds, the hugely anticipated new album by The Rolling Stones, is released on October 20th. Following the release of 2016's Grammy Award winning Blue & Lonesome, which featured brilliant versions of blues tracks that helped shape their sound, Hackney Diamonds marks the band's first studio album of original material since 2005's A Bigger Bang. Standard LP version includes a gatefold sleeve and heavyweight 180g vinyl.

This 2023 edition of The Shins's beloved second album, Chutes Too Narrow, celebrates the album's 20th anniversary with a fresh remaster by Adam Ayan, supervised by band leader James Mercer, and lovely new packaging for the vinyl. Chutes Too Narrow was recorded in James' basement home studio, with later mixing assistance from Phil Ek (Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, David Cross, Les Savy Fav, etc.). And, with 10 songs, clocking in at just over 30 minutes, Chutes Too Narrow is a brief yet entirely scintillating glimpse at chiming, reflective and perfectly skewed pop innovation. It was released to widespread acclaim in 2003, garnering Pitchfork's Best New Music, four stars from Rolling Stone, and raves from the New York Times, MOJO, the Village Voice, SPIN, and tons more. It subsequently made best-of-the-decade lists from The AV Club, NME, Paste, Pitchfork, and Uncut.
