Wrath of Logarius hail from black metal’s familiar scenery, but these skeletons aren’t bound by the scene's strict traditions. With Crown of Mortis, the band officially coronate a new realm for the subgenre: formless black metal.
Much like their notoriously difficult-to-defeat namesake, Wrath of Logarius are impossible to predict. Since their introductory EP, the band have leveled up in brute strength. Lead single “Keeper of the Spectral Legion” summons an army of the undead with merciless chugs and gloomy tremolo picking.
But their first full-length also ups their chilling sense for atmosphere with hair-raising skill. With the crushing curl of each blackened tendril, "Of the Void" embraces transfiguration by fire and ice. "Open the gates and let revision in", Noctifier shrieks amidst blistering blasts from none other than Lord Marco. "Slowly dismantle every part of you".
No matter what form they assume, Crown of Mortis pronounces Wrath of Logarius as the unflinching kings of black metal’s new realm.
