NOW ON VINYL! The NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) was one of the mostimportant moments in the history of metal. It began in the late 1970s andachieved international attention by the early 1980s The music of the movement was really fun and unique. The small recording studio Impulse in Newcastle founded the label NeatRecords for all the newcomers who made recordings there. The pioneering work paid off and a few weeks later they were the main independent company for the new, hard sounds from England. This compilation offers the very best in Neat s catalog, which has been hard to come by in recent years. Most of the songs are from compilations like Lead Weight and One Take No Dubs , which contained exclusive material. The booklet contains countless photos and memorablia information about each song and each band. John Tucker, author and former promoter of Neat Records, contributed substantial liner notes telling the story of the label. Cult is also an interview with the then producer of Impulse Studios, Keith Nichol. John Gallagher (Raven) and Brian Ross (Blitzkrieg) each comment on their piece on the compilation. Further information for all NWOBHM nerds complete the extensive booklet. The cover was inspired by the record label of the first years of Neat and only original colors were used.
