Newly remastered release of Toyah's 1981 Gold-selling album 'Anthem'; the fourth in Cherry Red's re-issue programme of Toyah's entire Safari Records catalogue. Remastered by Nick Watson from the original master tapes and approved by Joel Bogen. Strictly limited-edition Egyptian Gold coloured vinyl, also honouring the Gold-selling status of the album. With a new updated inner bag design featuring rare imagery plus an additional insert containing lyrics to all eleven songs on the album. Produced by Nick Tauber, with arrangements by the band and Toyah, the album features a line- up that saw Toyah Willcox and Joel Bogen joined by Nigel Glockler, Phil Spalding and Adrian Lee. 'Anthem' was a big commercial success, reaching number two in the UK Top 40 album chart in May 1981. It spent 46 weeks on the album chart and was awarded a Gold album sales certification. The album followed two Top Ten hit singles, 'It's A Mystery' (#4) and 'I Want To Be Free' (#8) both of which feature on 'Anthem' entering the public mainstream through radio play and appearances on BBC's legendary weekly music TV programme Top Of The Pops. 'It's A Mystery' and 'I Want To Be Free' have become iconic and well-loved hit singles of the 1980s. The album also includes the anthemic 'We Are' and the atmospheric 'Jungles Of Jupiter', both classics that have remained in Toyah's live set to this today. Toyah will embark on a 40th Anniversary Anthem tour beginning September 2022 to coincide with this special re-issue.
