The Soft Cavalry The Soft Cavalry
The Soft Cavalry is the self-titled debut album from the husband and wife duo of Steve Clarke and Slowdive's Rachel Goswell. For Steve, this labor of love marks the first time he masterminded a record from start to finish, and it includes invaluable contributions from his both his wife (co-vocals) and his brother Michael (producer). The band's music is a particularly British brand of intense cinematic drama. Melodic and timeless, the album lands in the atmospheric dimensions between Pink Floyd, Talk Talk and R.E.M. The Soft Cavalry is both an exercise in creative and personal therapy. Steve emphasizes this was a record he 'needed' to make. It was a way of rewriting the narrative, and proof that relative late bloomers (Steve was in his late 30s when he made the album) can make the record of their dreams.
