new split 7″ on Rad Girlfriend pairs two eras of indie punk. Both bands continue to contribute distinct voices to the broader punk continuum

The new split 7″ pairs two eras of independent punk rock. Both bands continue to contribute distinct voices to the broader punk continuum and offer new music that sits comfortably alongside their longer catalogs. It also highlights the connective tissue in DIY punk--bands with deep roots and consistent output still making and releasing records outside of major label systems, reaching their communities directly through physical formats like the 7″. On one side are The Raging Nathans, a band that has built one of the most extensive and consistent discographies in contemporary U.S. punk. Formed in Dayton, Ohio in 2009, the Nathans have released six studio albums and dozens of EPs and split 7″s through Rad Girlfriend Records, the label founded and operated by guitarist/vocalist Josh Goldman. Over the last decade and a half they've maintained an unusually high rate of output--six full-lengths sit alongside a seemingly endless string of EPs and splits with peers such as Dwarves, Jon Cougar Concentration Camp, Parasites and others. They have also issued compilation volumes (Bad Timing: Sordid Youth Vol. 3, etc.) that collect hard-to-find tracks, underscoring both their prolific nature and a commitment to documenting their history in ways that make even non-LP material accessible. On the other side is Horace Pinker, a band with roots stretching back to 1991. Originally from Tempe, Arizona and later based in Chicago, Horace Pinker is part of a generation of American punk bands that moved far beyond their local scenes to tour internationally and release records across multiple labels. Over the years they've released seven full-length albums, numerous EPs including a 7" on Fat Wreck Chords, a split with Face to Face and tracks featured on genre staples like the Cinema Beer Nuts releases. Across decades of activity they've combined direct, melody-driven punk, touring extensively in North America, Europe, South America and beyond.
