Tentation Prèmices
-French metallers Tentation celebrated ten years as a band in 2022. To commemorate the accomplishment, the band's label, Gates of Hell Records, proposed a reissue of the hard-to-find 2015 self-titled EP on vinyl. But in keeping true to Tentation's spirit of putting the fans first, the band proposed an anthology titled Prémices to include all cuts from the band's 2015 self-titled EP and 2018 split with Iron Slaught. Moreover, the collection will be affordably priced to combat the often high price tag of some of the band's early releases. The release features a new mastering job by Javi Félez Rodriguez and a new cover created by Viltisvm, an Indonesian artist. (Annick Giroux took care of the layout.) Also included is the song Shaman, which was previously released on the band's 2018 single via La Fin du Monde. This all amounts to Prémices being the ideal way to celebrate ten years of Tentation and to provide fans and newcomers an entry point to the band. Formed in Torreilles, the members of Tentation -- vocalist Patrice Darquos Rôhée, guitarist Guillaume Dousse, bassist Guillaume Guix Pastor and drummer Laurent Lole Metivier -- were drawn to the city's medieval history. Torreilles provided the ideal setting to create vintage heavy metal in the form of early Iron Maiden, Mercyful Fate, Venom and to take cues from French bands ADX and Sortilege. The band kept the French flavor by opting to sing vocals in its native tongue. That singular approach led to Tentation's signing with Gates of Hell for the 2021 release of Le Berceau Des Dieux. Prémices allows Tentation to turn the page on its early days and look ahead toward the future. The onset of 2023 has found the band thinking about the follow-up to Le Berceau Des Dieux. For now, though, metal fans across the globe have the opportunity to revel in the early days of one of the French metal scene's most unique bands.
