Secrecy is a duo from Copenhagen consisting of Tobias Guldborg Tarp and Emil Zethsen. Their music can be described as a blend of new wave, synth- and jangle pop, where melodic guitar melodies intertwine with evocative synths and gentle, yet persistent vocals. More than anything, Secrecy is drawn and driven by the shadows of existence. From the very beginning, the main force of the duo has been a shared pondering of the banalities of life, the volatility of time as well as love in all of it's different forms. These core elements of the duo are expressed through versatile compositions, ranging from New Wave synth hooks, the melancholic sharpness of Jangle Pop, and the carefree energy of Power Pop. Lyrically and musically, Secrecy can be described as an attempt to embody the most cryptic and staggering aspects of our shared reality, or simply a vehicle to revel in them. 'Scenes From A Daydream' comprises a collection of songs written over the course of roughly eight years. The songs started naturally unfolding as Emil and Tobias, who at the time were both members of the rock group Yung, discovered a shared love of melodic avant garde pop music and the conjoining of atmospheric sounds and well crafted compositions. Secrecy slowly became the center of the pair's creative realm and grew into an ever consuming project. Withdrawing from rock music and the virtues thereof created an incentive to experiment and explore approaches to songwriting free from structure and dogma. On the basis of a sincere curiosity and a shared urge to pursue each other's abstract ideas, the collection of songs which makes up 'Scenes From A Daydream' took form.
