BarcaNova Records, in collaboration with Music On Vinyl, proudly presents the highly anticipated recording by two lead- ing Dutch artists: cellist Quirine Viersen and pianist Thomas Beijer. Quirine Viersen has been a cello phenomenon since a young age. At a very early stage, she secured second place at the prestigious Scheveningen International Music Competition - a unique achievement. In the decades that followed, Viersen garnered numerous accolades with her consistently acclaimed performances alongside world-famous ensembles, orchestras, and conductors. The most striking aspect of her playing is it's deep, warm humanity. Viersen does not just play music; she embodies it. This allows her to connect with the listener without any barriers. Beethoven's words are highly applicable here: 'From one heart directly into another's. 'Thomas Beijer has also been praised for years for his artis- tic quality. In 2022, he performed in the prestigious Great Pianists series at the Royal Concertgebouw and received the Dutch Music Prize, the highest state honour that can be awarded to a Dutch musician. Beijer, being a composer as well as a pianist, is able to approach music from the inside: 'Beijer has the art of bringing a composer's, a kindred spirit's, thought world to life,' said the Dutch Music Prize committee. Quirine Viersen and Thomas Beijer perform 14 compositions by Rudolf Escher, Frederic Chopin, Francis Poulenc, and Witold Lutoslawski.
