On 2 June 1991, Paul Gilbert arrived at the Frankfurt Jazz Festival expecting to trade solos with blues legend Albert Collins. When Collins was forced to cancel due to a sudden health issue, the promoter asked Gilbert to step in as the headliner-even though he had no band or prepared solo set. With only hours before showtime, a backing band was assembled using members of Ten Years After, and Gilbert quickly rehearsed a handful of Jimi Hendrix songs, stretching the solos into epic jams. The result was a spontaneous, electrifying set that turned an unexpected crisis into a memorable performance.
