One and half years later Kolf found himself in his studio, delivering his most emotional vocal performance so far. "I was going through some tough personal changes in my life. So while being in the studio, I just had to get my feelings out and did not care. It happened to be a dark era and it had a huge influence on my singing." Owl grew from the occult Death Metal project to an outlet to cope with confused times. In between the production of "Nights In Distortion" Kolf released two EPs "The Last Walk" and "Aeon Cult" only for the reason to find solace in the creation of music. "The album is about the transition from good times to dark times, just when you least expect it. When I finished everything in 2017, I was sick of it, especially because so many bad memories were connected to it. There were times where I just wanted to upload it on Bandcamp and to move on. But I learnt to be patient. My friend René Marquis, who played bass on "Nights In Distortion" was the one who pushed me into believing in this album again." "Nights In Distortion" is dedicated to René Marquis, the bassist of the band who passed away suddenly in March, 2018.
