New York Dolls Too Much Too Soon
Judging from the title of their second album recorded in 1974, the NY Dolls understood their place in history perfectly. Punk rock had yet to break, and five cross-dressing, trash-talking rockers from the bowels of the Bowery had no place in the corporate music world, and yet the two albums by the NY Dolls are two of the most influential slabs of vinyl ever cut. Produced by George "Shadow" Morton (who during the sixties produced the legendary street tough & potty mouthed NY girl group the Shangri-La's).
