Mojave Phone Booth Blood Doctor Volume One
Blood Doctor Volume One, the new album from Mojave Phone Booth, melds abrasive industrialtextures, melodic song structures, and propulsive electronic rhythms into a singular andunmatched combination of sounds. Both relentless and meticulous, the record is a highlyexperimental art piece to be displayed through your speaker system. With immaculate attentionto detail and surgical precision, Tobey Torres-Doran and Mitchell J Doran have crafted theirmost aggressive and experimental work to date.Husband-and-wife duo Mitchell and Tobey first began making music together as members ofthe cult electronic act Snake River Conspiracy. Tobey Torres-Doran was the lead vocalist andfrontperson for Snake River Conspiracy, touring the world with bands such as A Perfect Circle,Queens of the Stone Age, Filter, Etc. In addition to being signed as an artist to Warner Brothers, she also sang as a session vocalist on various recordings for Warner/Reprise records.Mitchell J Doran was hired as a teenager to work as a session musician and recording engineeron releases for Warner Brothers and various other labels and artists such as Queensryche, Dio,etc. He was then recruited to Snake River Conspiracy as lead guitarist and programmer whichbegan the creative relationship between Tobey and Mitchell that eventually became MojavePhone Booth.Their 2023 release Hollow the Numbers (2023) is testament to fearless creativity. Written andrecorded in their Bay Area home studio, it's a stellar example of the "studio as instrument"approach to songwriting. Not only does the band draw from an eclectic collection of analoggear, but they have also elevated the craft by building much of their equipment themselves.Once again written and recorded in their Northern California home studio, Blood Doctor VolumeOne is the next iteration of their creative process. In addition to playing synths, drums, bass andguitars, Mitchell J Doran also records and produces the band's albums. "Sounds we wereinspired by this time are recycling trucks, mechanical telephone switching systems andelectronic voice phenomena" says Doran. "We used a wide range of instruments and equipmentto create a careful selection of textures."Arresting in it's immediacy, Blood Doctor Volume One draws listeners into a world of existentialtension and searing emotional depth. Imbued with palpable tension and otherworldly sonicinnovation, Mojave Phone Booth thrives in the space where industrial rock meets analogelectronic experimentation.
