Just in time for HALLOWEEN 🎃 2025!
Part 1 of our "Demo Days" tribute single EPs. (Digital version)
Massacre is a band that has always taken pride in being called an underground death metal band. A band that has been a part of the underground death metal scene, which helped form the underground tape trading circle of the late 80s and early 90s era..
The idea behind the "Demo Days" series is to pay homage to the classically sick demo-era bands that helped create the scene and genre we know today as death metal.
The very bands whose early demo tapes got highly circulated and traded, and whose sounds and music pioneered and established the genre we know today.
We are honored and proud to do our Massacre-ized versions of some of the most influential bands and songs from the earliest days of the death metal scene.
Especially those bands outside the US, which we recognize as pioneers in their own specific regions, as well as worldwide.
On this special single, we acknowledge two of the scene's key trailblazers. Of course, the early band from Sweden that was once called Nihilist, which would later change its moniker to Entombed, and became one of the most influential bands in the scene. The band that would become synonymous with that specific "Swedish death metal sound".
On this EP single, we cover one of their quintessential demo hits, "Supposed to Rot", off their debut demo, "Premature Austopsy (88)", and give it our own unique, horrified, Massacre-ized spin!
Secondly, we decided to do a cover of the Austrian maniacs called Pungent Stench. As we recognize these innovators with their idiosyncratic and deadly smut death metal/grind core blend of absolute utter sickness. With a perfect blend of OSDM and OSGC, these sickos devastated the early tape trader days with their debut demo, "Mucous Secretion (88)", with their very own groundbreaking sound that helped to establish a specific substructure of demo tape traders worldwide.
We take on doing our version of one of their demos' definitive songs, "Embalmed in Sulfuric Acid", and we even requested Martin Schirenc to come in and redo those quick but effective guitar solos in the track.
