Jacob Morris Moths
After traveling from Athens, GA to Nashville, TN we headed to the home studio of my dear friend Loney John Hutchens. Our bands, The Mattoid and HAM1, had swapped shows in Nashville and Athens. Somehow–the gentle angel of a man that Loney is–offered to do some recording of some songs I was working on while HAM1 was staying at his chalet a few months before. We agreed we should try another session. Each track on the album started with simultaneous lead vocal and acoustic guitar at Loney John Hutchins’ home studio. Most were first or second takes from that first day. From there, we layered on top of the songs over a year or two while I was in Nashville for shows or to record with other groups like HAM1, Madeline, and Chelsea Crowell–each of us collaborating on each other’s records. We ended up recording over 20 songs of mine and, as we added to the compositions, honed it down to 10.
