Is/Ought Gap is a rock band that was a part of the early 80's independent music scene of Athens Ga. Some folks said that Is/Ought Gap was part of the second or third wave of the scene. A scene made world famous by a People Magazine article, a film, R.E.M, the B-52's, Pylon and many other fine artists, musicians, and happy fans. Is/Ought Gap began in approximately late 1981. Its members went on to form well known Athens, GA bands Kilkenny Cats, Time Toy, Club GaGa, Thumb Attack, and Eat America. Is/Ought Gap did shows in the 80's both headlining and opening for bands such as The Circle Jerks, The Bongos, and R.E.M. Later there were several reunion shows where R.E.M did surprise opening sets and R.E.M. members and other Athens band members would perform as special guests. Michael Stipe in an interview with Matter Magazine said they are the best bar band in America. 'SUA' is a compilation that for the first time gives their debut min-LP 'Lucky 7' an actual distributed official release beyond tape a CD-r dubs that floated around to a handful of older townies in the Athens scene. The compilation features the mini-LP 'Lucky 7', 4 later recordings the band made for a reunion show in 2014 where they recorded a handful of tracks they only demoed back in the early 80's, and a 4 song live set which also features covers of the New York Dolls song Personality Crisis and the Wire song Feeling Called Love. The covers will only be available on the vinyl version and will not be available for digital download or streaming. The album comes on black vinyl only and in a full color jacket with download card, and has a lyric booklet.
