I-Mo-Jah Rockers From The Land Of Reggae
The 100th release on Pressure Sounds (PSLP100) is a brilliant rare roots LP 'Rockers From the Land of Reggae' by I-Mo-Jah ('Unity' in Swahili). Travelling through the UK in the late 70s Phillip Fullwood met a young Burning Spear, and soon became a touring percussionist with Spear's group. Their relationship gave Phillip valuable insight into studio work, and he moved into production and mixing. The I-Mo-Jah group had been started in Jamaica and recorded shortly after Phillip moved to the US, where the group gained a third member with vocalist Cassandra Jenkins. Self-produced by Fullwood on his Jah Marcus label in 1982, this LP is a companion piece to Fullwood's 'Words in Dub' (available as PSLP101) from 1979. Both albums are seriously sought after, and have now been reissued for the first time.
