Howard Johnson & Xl Middleton Can't Get Away From Your Love
Legendary soul/funk vocalist Howard Johnson ("So Fine," "Keepin' Love New" etc.) teams with MoFunk's own XL Middleton for "Can't Get Away From Your Love," to deliver a modern boogie smash much in the spirit of his heralded work with Kashif & Paul Laurence in the 80's. In keeping with the tradition of 'sophisticated funk' that HoJo and other Kashif-produced artists are known for delivering, XL produces a dance floor-ready track, replete with big synth and vocoder lines, plus intricate chord progressions to serve as the springboard for a song about a love too good to pass up. For the b-side, XL remixes the track into a more mid-tempo incarnation (the Stepper Mix), giving the song additional life at a slower pace with shimmering rhodes chords and slick bass tones from Josh Solomon (aka "The City Pop Bassist).
