Gabriel da Rosa Cafuné
Gabriel da Rosa signed to Stones Throw Records in 2022 after moving to LA from Brazil to start a new life. He met Stones Throw’s founder Peanut Butter Wolf and the two bonded over their shared love for Brazil, bossa nova, and records. The A-side "Cafuné" was written for an independent film “All Happy Families” directed by Haroula Rose, Gabriel teamed up with LA string composer Oliver Hill. The Portuguese word “Cafuné” loosely translates to the act of running your fingers through someone's hair in a tender way: “An act that is calming and loving, and is used to show affection toward people closest to us.” The B-side “Sort Of” is an equally tender and existential song made with Oliver Hill.
