Las Vegas, NV- Singer-songwriter Franky Perez releases his new album, 'Crossing The Great Divide,' alongside a documentary film. The album, which has been called, "beautiful, inspiring and very timely," will be released by Black Sea Music in summer 2022. "We're excited for this album and to share in Franky's vision: that music has the power to heal and unite." Franky recently finished filming the poignant documentary that saw him crossing the southern United States on his motorcycle, performing for healthcare workers and talking with fellow artists during the peak of the pandemic in 2020. It was this unique experience that inspired the songs that would ultimately become his new album, "Crossing The Great Divide." "During this pandemic, we became separated - families from one another and artists from their audience," says Franky. "Artists need that feedback, that connection we can only get through human interaction. Shows are perfect little utopian worlds that exist 90 minutes at a time. Playing my guitar by myself at home for a year felt like being stranded on a desert island." Franky performed for frontline healthcare workers at nursing homes and other facilities from Miami to California. For most of the workers and residents, Franky's soulful acoustic performance was the first live music they had seen since before the pandemic started. In addition to bringing joy and connection to the largely unsung heroes of COVID-19, Franky also met with legendary performers to discuss their experiences including Country Music superstar Randy Travis and comedian Bill Burr, who share stories and offer inspiring thoughts on survival and success. "This trip, with just a motorcycle and a guitar, really grounded me as a performer," Franky says, "The lights and stage and distance were gone. I had to not just entertain, but to connect on a deeply personal level. These smaller shows were some of the most moving of my career." Franky's incredible vocal presence and charismatic personality have allowed him to cross multiple genres and work with some of the greatest names in music including Billy Gibbons, Joe Cocker, Darius Rucker, Ringo Starr, Steven Tyler, Cody Jinks, Chris Janson and Slash. Franky has performed extensively with Scars on Broadway, regularly tours with Finnish symphonic rock band Apocalyptica and even appeared as the lead vocalist for rock legends The Doors at the 2012 Sunset Strip Music Festival.
