Boombaptist Boom Shakalaka
BoomBaptist continues to revise the winning 90's Boom-Bap formula pioneered by golden era hip-hop greats. The Texas-based, RBMA participant has found his sound, receiving invitations to baptize Low End Theory, Tokyo, & Bonaroo Music Festival. He has previously collaborated with Guilty Simpson, Black Milk, Celph Titled, & Termanology; landing music placements on Comedy Central's "Broad City", BBC radio, Soulection radio & NPR. He is the co-founder of boogie/funk outfit The Vapor Caves. His performances have accompanied such acts as: Kaytranada, RJD2, & Mndsgn.  BoomBaptist began producing in 1998, citing DJ Premier, Pete Rock, & RZA as his first motivation to learn the art. Two decades in the game, after countless beat-tapes and collaborations, his debut, solo LP arrives. Before starting this record, he opened a video game arcade that housed many of the games of his youth. One game in particular inspired "Boom Shakalaka". Razzle dazze and high-flying dunks reigned supreme in this flash of nostalgia and BoomBaptist's love for 90's era basketball resulted in "Boom Shakalaka". This album consists of 11, sample-heavy tracks produced with rappers in mind and packed with rare moments from the game. Pressed onto an incredible, limited-edition of only 200 picture discs, the vinyl is a site to behold. Created in tandem with the game, the needle drops before tip-off and the record is flipped after the final buzzer sounds. "Boom Shakalaka" was created with the intention of evoking vintage, dusty VHS's of highlights and trash talk. For fans of the NBA, golden-era hip-hop, Samiyam & Dibia$e.
