Lyricist Pekka Kainulainen, who has also worked for the band on previous albums, tells the story of an unfortunate man, who is invited to a circle and receives strength from the old Finnish gods. As the plot is set completely between dusk and dawn, “Circle†gains a dark yet yearning atmosphere. Produced by Swedish all-rounder Peter Tägtgren (HYPOCRISY, PAIN), AMORPHIS went to the Finnish countryside at Petrax Studio to work on “Circleâ€. The cover artwork was done by British artist Tom Bates who seems to share a common love for Alphonse Mucha with Esa Holopainen. Founded 1990 in Helsinki, AMORPHIS have become a globally successful act with 6 number 1 albums in their home country Finland and countless top 10 positions all over the world. Da die Handlung vollständig zwischen Abend- und Morgendämmerung spielt, gewinnt „Circle“ eine düstere und sehnsüchtige Atmosphäre. Nachdem der schwedische Allrounder Peter Tägtgren (HYPOCRISY, PAIN) das Album produziert hatte, zogen AMORPHIS auf das finnische Land in die Petrax Studios, um weiter an „Circle“ zu arbeiten. Das Cover-Artwork stammt vom britischen Künstler Tom Bates, der anscheinend eine gemeinsame Liebe zu Alphonse Mucha mit Esa Holopainen teilt.
