Afie Jurvanen, aka Bahamas, left city life behind for Nova Scotia, where he recorded his new LP in a shed studio with drummer/friend Joshua Van Tassel. My Second Last Album blends soul, folk, country-funk and pop, with candid lyrics about family, resilience, and finding peace outside the spotlight. From the groove of "Feels So Good" to the playful candor of lead single "The Bridge," it's one of Bahamas' most personal and essential works to date.

After the release of Bon Jovi's acclaimed 2024 album Forever, the band set out to reimagine every song on the album with an array of some of the world's most revered and innovative artists. Forever (Legendary Edition) includes one brand-new track ("Red, White and Jersey") and 13 fresh takes on songs from the Forever album, featuring artists like Bruce Springsteen, Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll, Jason Isbell and the previously released version of "The People's House" with The War & Treaty.

Set to draw us into a textured world of intuitive songwriting where offbeat rock collides with distorted electronica, the album which has been in the works for over ten years is set to mark the pair as a contemporary musical act to tune into.

Brandi Carlile is back with her 8th studio album and first solo project in four years. After pouring herself into collaborations with musical icons and legends, the multi-GRAMMY Award-winning songwriter is looking inward, reflecting backward, and ultimately, returning home on her brand-new album, Returning To Myself. The ten-song collection is produced by Carlile, Andrew Watt, Aaron Dessner, and Justin Vernon.

Local Action is proud to present 'Daughters', the debut album by Jennifer Walton.Walton is a beloved figure across various sectors of the alternative music underground. Outside of her own music and soundtrack work, she has been a live drummer for Kero Kero Bonito, collaborates with Sarah Midori Perry on the pair's Cryalot project, has remixed Metronomy and worked with Iceboy Violet, BABii and more. She also makes music and DJs with close friends aya and 96 Back under the name Microplastics, and recently contributed to London collective caroline's acclaimed caroline 2 album. The first seeds of Walton's debut album were sowed during touring North America in 2018, where whilst ticking off life-long music goals, Walton's father was dying of cancer. Grief is a constant presence throughout 'Daughters', and specifically the surreal nature of having to process it amongst a blur of airports, flight connections, hotel rooms and battles for stolen medication with the American healthcare system. Strip malls, drug deals, panic attacks; the artificiality of downtown American city districts dovetailing with reality in it's most brutal form. Miss America for a day while life is changed forever. Weaving between real life diary entries, travelogue-style storytelling, imagery that ranges from mechanical to religious and a scattering of fiction (though we are obliged to mention that 'Shelly' is based on a true story), Daughters climaxes with the staggering run of 'Saints', 'Miss America' and it's title track. Sampling unattended machines harmonizing bleeps into the void in a London hospital ward, 'Saints' narrates Walton taking her father to and from cancer research trials, 'sat, hunched and sick in the concourse as minutes became hours'. And to be very real for a moment, Jen is a friend, and first hearing the 'Miss America' demo is up there with the most emotional moments we've had in 15 years of running this record label.Finished in London across the second half of 2024, 'Daughters' features musical contributions from some of the closest friends and collaborators that Walton has made in her time as a musician: aya (who also mixed the album), Daniel S. Just Mustard are a 5-piece band from Dundalk, Ireland. Their third studio album, WE WERE JUST HERE, is an exploration of reconnection and the pursuit of happiness; through escapism, induced euphoria and love. Musically both violent and ecstatic, the lyrics find characters committed to happiness over everything - including happiness itself. While their second record, Heart Under, found the band suffocating and underwater, this album finds them soaring and discovering the intense rush of emotion again.

The End, the third studio album from GRAMMY Award-nominated songwriter, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Wolfgang Van Halen's Mammoth. The album (produced by longtime collaborator Michael "Elvis" Baskette) marks a new chapter in Mammoth's musical evolution while continuing to highlight Wolfgang's signature guitar-shredding sound and melodic vocals. Wolfgang's talent is magnified once again as he performs all instruments and vocals on the album. The End also sees Wolfgang embrace the name "Mammoth" without the initial "WVH" that previously followed.

Their sixth album in eleven years for eremite records, descension (Out of Our Constrictions) is the first to be recorded live, featuring a set from London’s Cafe OTO with veteran English free-improv great Evan Parker, & the first to feature just one extended composition. The 75-minute performance, inspired by the galvanizing presence of Parker, is a sustained bacchanalia of collective ecstasy. You could call it their party album. This was the second time Parker played with NIS.

A year after Spectral Evolution, his acclaimed album of electric guitar conceptions, comes the companion work Traveling Light. Norwegian pop powerhouse Sigrid returns with There's Always More That I Could Say, an "accidental breakup album" that moves from dizzy infatuation to heartbreak and reflection with joy, honesty, and her signature soaring vocals and sky-high choruses. Written and co-produced with a renewed sense of creative freedom, it's her most instinctive and emotionally nuanced record yet. After years of writing, wandering, and starting over, Evan Dando returns with Love Chant, the first Lemonheads studio album of original material in nearly two decades. Long in the works and shaped by shifting geographies and a cast of trusted collaborators, it’s a bold, melodic reaffirmation of one of alternative rock’s most distinctive voices. Now based in Brazil, where much of the album was recorded, Dando’s relocation in recent years has offered a quiet shift in perspective — a chance to reset, reconnect, and finally bring these songs into focus. The result is a record that sounds both fresh and familiar: rooted in the hallmarks of The Lemonheads’ best work, yet expanded by years of lived experience and new surroundings. Love Chant was produced by Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Apollo Nove, it draws together old friends and new allies. J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr), Juliana Hatfield, and Tom Morgan rejoin the fold, alongside producer Bryce Goggin (Pavement, Antony and the Johnsons), Nashville’s Erin Rae, John Strohm of the Blake Babies and Nick Saloman of The Bevis Frond. Adam Green of cult New York favourites The Moldy Peaches also contributes as co-writer on the loose-limbed country detour “Wild Thing.” Over the past few years, The Lemonheads’ influence has only deepened. Artists like MJ Lenderman, Courtney Barnett and Waxahatchee have all covered Dando’s songs, praising the emotional clarity, melodic instinct, and wry intimacy that define his writing. That resonance across generations makes Love Chant feel like more than a return — it’s a reminder of what made this band matter in the first place.

With Touch, the Tortoise bandmembers — Jeff Parker, Dan Bitney, Douglas McCombs, John Herndon, and John McEntire — harness their collectivist songwriting approach, a slightly anarchistic but resolutely egalitarian process where ideas triumph over ego towards an abstracted muscularity. While there are still excursions into the dusky, elegantly gnarled jazz ambience that flourished on landmark works like Millions Now Living Will Never Die and TNT, Touch is perhaps most remarkable for Tortoise's unapologetic embrace of grand gesture. Aerodynamically re-engineered Krautrock, hand-cranked techno rave-ups, and pointillist spaghetti western fanfares are all imbued with Tortoise's now-signature internal logic — equally alluring and confounding, a puzzle to be savored rather than solved.The stylistic diversity is also a reflection of the band's current operating circumstances: With two members now in Los Angeles, another in Portland, and just two remaining in the band's Chicago hometown, their creative process has shifted dramatically from when they lived together in a loft space in the late 1990s, honing their sound over endless hours of collective experimentation.Recorded between the three cities — Los Angeles, Portland, and Chicago — Touch is the result of an intentional effort by these five musicians to reconnect, recenter, and reinvigorate their sound for what is perhaps the group’s most diverse release to date.
