From the traces of the true metal project SEDUCTION, which was initiated by a management, a real band emerged in 2004: VIRON. In contrast to SEDUCTION, VIRON immediately sounded more mature and down-to-earth. Influences of US metal and NWOBHM were mixed with European metal, which was something special for a German band in 2004. After grunge, crossover and gothic, traditional heavy metal was slowly getting back on its feet and VIRON were early participants in this development. The first EP released by the band, which also bore the name NWOGHM (New Wave Of German Heavy Metal), hit the underground like a bomb and they played a few shows without a record deal, including at the Headbangers Open Air near Hamburg. This called the labels onto the scene and in 2006 they decided to sign with the Greek company Sonic Age (aka. Cult Metal Classics). The EP was expanded with additional songs, which were recorded in the same studio (Kohlekeller Studio), and became an album. In order to stand out from the true metal groups and all their dragons and wizards on the colorful covers, they decided on a very simple design and kept the title NWOGHM. However, the cover version of the US metal classic “Run For Tomorrow” by Exxplorer remained exclusive to the EP (but is now included on the LP on Golden Core). Fantastic album reviews throughout were followed by appearances at the Sworbrothers Festival, United Metalheads and with bands such as Sabaton, Custard and Solemnity. The album's intro, “Sander”, is considered cult and is still a topic of conversation today. VIRON switched to Metal Heaven Records in 2007 and released the successful follow-up “Ferrum Gravis” in 2008, before the band gradually fell by the wayside due to the success of the band ROXXCALIBUR (three members of VIRON), who were active at the same time. Due to many requests from fans, NWOGHM are now finally available on vinyl. The double LP in gatefold (liner notes, many photos and illustrations) has been remastered for this medium and contains the SEDUCTION demos as well as other bonus material.
