Downtown Boys return with Public Luxury, an album that continues the band’s long-standing blend of music, activism, and community spirit. Formed in Providence, Rhode Island, by Victoria Marie and Joey La Neve DeFrancesco, the band has always drawn inspiration from labor organizing and social justice. Co-produced by DeFrancesco and Seth Manchester, the album combines punk and indie rock with Latin influences, saxophone, synths, and electronic textures. While rooted in political themes, Public Luxury also carries a deeply personal side, with several songs inspired by the passing of Victoria Marie’s grandmother. Energetic, inclusive, and hopeful, the album delivers a message of collective action and a belief that a better future is possible.

Jjerome87 is the solo moniker of British songwriter, musician and frontman of the critically acclaimed Mercury Prize and Ivor Novello-winning band, alt-J. Recorded in LA alongside producer Carlos de la Gaza, a dedicated group of session musicians and a trio of female vocalists, The Canyon is a collection of alt-J (esque) songs with a Californian, Motown, Blues and Gospel energy.

Composer and multi-instrumentalist M. Geddes Gengras returns with Guest List, his fourth release for Hausu Mountain and his first on vinyl for the label. Known for his work with Sun Araw, Pocahaunted, Robedoor, Akron/Family, and Duppy Gun Productions, Gengras continues to expand his experimental, synth-driven sound. The album is his most collaborative and ambitious project to date, bringing together a wide range of musicians, including Greg Fox, Ben Chasny (Six Organs of Admittance), and Christina Carter (Charalambides). For the Sake of Stillness, her debut solo album, is an offering of music that asks you to pay attention. Most of the songs are at a walking pace, mimicking the long walks through foreign cities and the observant headspace they come from. Stillness was recorded during and in-between touring, coming together over years as a centering practice and statement of self. An ambient score of natural sounds from these wanderings flows under many of the songs, records of place: the rhythm of footsteps on crisp ground, birdsong, rain falling outside, an impatient car shouldering into distant traffic, the pulse of the ocean, the warm texture of unintelligible and overlapping conversations. Originally issued on CD in 2001, the collection gathers 19 B-sides from the band’s celebrated 1988–1991 4AD era, including fan favourites such as “Wave of Mutilation (UK Surf),” “Into The White,” and “The Thing.” Remastered from the original analogue tapes by Kevin Vanbergen, this marks the compilation’s first vinyl release. The expanded edition also adds six live tracks and features new artwork by longtime collaborators Chris Bigg and Simon Larbalestier, created in tribute to the late visual director Vaughan Oliver.

Los Angeles quintet SML return with Spontaneous Music Live, a live album featuring two side-long, completely unedited improvisations recorded during a three-night residency at Zebulon in late 2025. The band includes Anna Butterss, Jeremiah Chiu, Josh Johnson, Booker Stardrum, and Gregory Uhlmann. Unlike the heavily edited and post-produced approach of their previous albums, this release captures SML in its rawest form. Recorded and mixed live to stereo tape by Bryce Gonzales, the album showcases the group’s collective improvisation and creative chemistry in real time. The result is an immersive snapshot of the band at work, revealing the spontaneous ideas and musical interactions that often become the foundation of future recordings.

Riding the least likely commercial success of the 90s with Modern Rock chart topper "Pepper," Austin odd rockers Butthole Surfers returned to the studio in 1998 for the followup, After The Astronaut. Leaning further into experiments with electronics, hip-hop, acid grooves, and the otherwise unusual, the result is a dizzying orbital trip expanding the idea of what's possible in rock music.Disputes between The Butthole Surfers and Capitol Records left the album unreleased, while the band regrouped and re-recorded some of the material for 2001's Weird Revolution, released through Hollywood Records. After The Astronaut collected dust, eventually developing a mythic status.A quarter century later, Butthole Surfers are realizing their vision for After The Astronaut. Newly mixed by guitarist/producer Paul Leary, After The Astronaut corrects the record on the band's activity in the late 90s with a bold, idiosyncratic evolution of their sun-fried psychedelia.
