Various Heavy Metal Rarities, Vol.1

Release date:

Pre-order vinyl:

The heavy metal scene isn’t just made up of headbangers and casual fans, but also collectors and explorers. This is especially true of the 1980s and the traditional underground scene of the 1990s. This box set contains four LPs reissued by Golden Core, which are perfectly tailored to the audience that gathers at festivals like Keep It True or Headbangers Open Air. Every collector would love to have the original SACRAFICE LP in their collection, but you have to dig deep into your pockets and also have a lot of luck to fulfill this wish. The self-produced record, which was released in limited quantities in the mid-1980s, is one of the top rarities of German metal. You might have better luck with HAMMERSCHMITT, since the LP was originally released by Rockport (Trance, Outside, Rodgau Monotones). Still, you’ll have to shell out a few bucks here as well if you want the original in good condition. The iconic cover and the competent heavy metal—partly speed metal—have made the album gain more and more favor with fans over the years.OBLIVION released the EP “Reflections” independently in the 1990s. Two years ago, Golden Core released the first vinyl edition of this forgotten gem from a time when traditional metal was struggling. The atmospheric cover alone made it worth releasing an LP. The CD is still expensive if you want to buy a used original copy. With SQUADRON, that’s not even an option, because these are professionally sounding demo recordings that were never officially released. This compilation proves just how out of touch some record labels were back then. It easily outshines many a release from the established labels of that era. SQUADRON was the first band of drummer Klaus Sperling, known from Primal Fear, Sinner, Freedom Call, and Nitrogods.
