Anniversaries and milestones always make a great chance to both simultane- ously look back AND look forward. And the 400th release in the Pirates Press Records catalog is certainly a milestone that we are all thrilled and grateful to see...and to mark the occasion with For Family and Flag, Volume 2! It was just about three years ago that we unveiled For Family and Flag Volume 1, our 300th release, and the spiritual successor to One Family One Flag, the triple LP that marked our 200th. The label (and let's face it, the world) has been through so much in those three years, but in some ways, it feels like just yesterday. What truly stands out when looking from one release to the next is the ever-expand- ing Pirates Family. The Drowns were still fairly newcomers to the label the last time around, and the release of Suzi Moon's debut EP was still months away. Now, it is safe to say that they are both flagship artists of the label! Longtime stalwarts like The Slackers, NOi!SE, Stomper 98, DeeCRACKS, and Territories are still present and represent- ed by some of their most exciting new music. Meanwhile, a large portion of the album consists of brand new additions to the label, like The Inciters, Billy Liar, Hunting Lions, Flores y Fuego, Starving Wolves, Sweat, and Brigata Vendetta! By the time Volume 3 rolls around, those newcomers are sure to join the ranks of the veterans we couldn't imagine the label without! Ultimately, we are proud to be able to work with artists like these, but it would never be sustainable if not for the unwavering support of all of you. We are so grateful to be able to continue bringing you the finest records in the world!
