The Uprise's one and only album Friends, Fights & Fun was originally scheduled to be released on the UK based label Link Records, a label owned by Mark Brennan former bassist of the UK band The Business and later Captain Oi! Records along with former Business manager Laurie Pryor in the fall of 1988. The main core of The Uprise from their conception was the songwriting trio of Scott Andrews on Guitar, Rob Daly on Drums and Matt Andrews on Bass. In their brief 3-year existence, they had matured beyond what most would have expected. The band set out to record on 1 tape with an 8-track recorder. This was pretty hi tech at the time. There were a total of 10 tracks recorded that were recorded in the studio in the same order as they were scheduled to be presented on the 2 sided album. The opening track Malpractice was Rob's first attempt ever at singing in the studio. Winning The War was a song Skinny Jimmy had brought to the band which was re-recorded for the album's session with Rob now handling the vocals. The original version would find its way on The US of Oi! Compilation. The 10 tracks were scheduled to be the band's debut album. 9 original songs and a cover of Joan Jett's Bad Reputation. The band had always had their own bad reputation that seemed to follow them wherever they went, and they loved fun rock n roll, so they wanted to inject their humorous side to their version. The band even tried to use a sampler on the song which was something they thought would bring some fun into the song. After the recording was finished the band had some ruff mixes done that were never actually finished. There have been countless copies circulated in the wild, but even the cassette demo that was put out was never actually official. The band sadly would break up in Sept 1988 after a gig with Social Distortion disillusioned with a variety of dilemmas at the time. The album was never officially mixed and sat dormant for years. Till Now.
