Formed in 1980, The Effigies along with Naked Raygun and Strike Under defined the early Chicago punk sound and scene. They released a string of acclaimed EPs and LPs during the past four decades. In 1985 the Effigies released their post-punk debut . Departing from their punk roots to experiment with new rhythms and expanded guitar complexities, the record brought the band to a wider audience, out of the mosh pit and onto the dance floor, featuring a cover of Joy Division’s “No Love Lost” long before others attempted it.
