Berlin-based Peruvian producer Sofia Kourtesis announces her new EP Fresia Magdalena, which will be released on 19 March 2021 via the Ninja Tune-Sublabel Technicolour. After her groundbreaking EP Sarita Colonia - which was referred to by the Observer as One To Watch, which was on the Emerging Artist lists of DJ Mag and Mixmag and appeared in this year's NME 100 - she continues to refine her unique sound on the EP by giving cleverly selected samples and a cheerful sense of Personality and locality used to create something absolutely contagious. Although undeniably present in all her works, Fresia Magdalena is more than ever rooted in Kourtesi's homeland of Peru. On one of their regular, extensive trips home, the EP's creation process began collecting field recordings around the city of Lima, where Kourtesis's family currently lives, and especially in Magdalena, its district. The result, which then emerged between Peru and Berlin, shows that both aspects of their life flow effortlessly into their music, weaving around themes and a wide range of styles that remain universal.
