Scrollkeeper Wetiko Ep
In 2016 SCROLLKEEPER formed in Houston, Texas to celebrate traditional and original heavy metal. The first sign of life was the EP "Fortune Favors The Bold", which was recorded during rehearsals for the first show, opening up for Hammerfall. Further gigs with Dirkschneider, Manilla Road, Angra or Cloven Hoof were to follow. The song "Surrender" made it onto the compilation "Doomed And Stoned In Texas", on which acts like Solitude Aeturnus or Deadhorse played. More EPs and singles were made available on the digital way. In 2019, they again played high-profile shows with bands like Saxon, Voivod, Enforcer, Warbringer or BTR. SCROLLKEEPER's first album, "Auto Da Fe", was also initially only available digitally, but was then made available physically by the label True Metal Records. On the Golden Core sampler "Damn, This Stuff Is Heavy - Vol. 2" you can find the track "Devil's Calculus". In 2021 they were briefly without a drummer and so the idea came up that the German drummer Neudi (ex-Manilla Road, Trance, Griffin, Jameson Raid, Roxxcalibur, ex-Savage Grace, etc.) would record three tracks for the upcoming EP "Wetiko". Meanwhile, they have a permanent drummer in Krystal Salinas, who can be heard on the three other tracks on the EP. The last song is of course a cover version of Hallow's Eve and for this they could win their bassist Tommy Stewart as a guest. "Metal Merchants" rounds off the disc perfectly. Scrollkeeper are both traditional and idiosyncratic. This can be addictive after a few runs...
