Pale Lights Waverly Place
You may recognize Phil Sutton's name and voice from the debut Love, Burns album we released in 2022, but Pale Lights is the band he led throughout the '10s. Over the last dozen years, this brilliant NYC group has released a pair of classic albums - but they've also put out a handful of EPs (including a self-released 7, cdep and two digital EPs, a split 7 with Lake Ruth and a coveted spot in Slumberland's 30th anniversary 7 series - all of which are now out of print), and I'm thrilled to report that this disc collects the bulk of that output! If you've not yet heard the band, prepare yourself for a glorious batch of shimmering pop filled with strummy acoustic guitars, crystalline guitar melodies, warm organs and wonderful vocal harmonies that evoke memories of the best '80s UK janglepop bands from Felt, Weather Prophets and Razorcuts. Oh, and if you think this is Pale Lights' book-end to clear the way for Love, Burns, then I'm happy to say that they're finishing up a new mini-album as I type!
