Oscar Peterson We Get Requests (Deluxe)
Limited Edition LP. Deluxe 180-Gram Reissue. Including Original Artwork & Credits. Released in 1964, We Get Requests was Oscar Peterson's last album from his fourteen-year collaboration with the Verve label. It features the pianist leading what was perhaps his greatest trio ever, with bassist Ray Brown and drummer Ed Thigpen. It's generally agreed that We Get Requests is one of the technically best-recorded jazz-trio discs in the catalog, and as such it's usually employed in audiophile set demonstrations, especially the song "You Look Good to Me," on which the interplay between the piano, bass and drums is really outstanding. The album also contains several perennial hits, such as VIRGIN VINYL Ant6nio Carlos Jobim's "The Girl From Ipanema" and "Corcovado", Henry Mancini's LIMITED EDITION "The Days of Wine and Roses", and the Jule Styne-Bob Merrill classic "People" (from the 1964 Broadway musical Funny Girl that was first popularized by Barbra Streisand). Although a few 1965 recordings (such as Exclusively For My Friends - The Lost Tapes) surfaced several decades later, We Get Requests marked the last official studio album music released in it's time by this classic formation of the Oscar Peterson Trio.
