Neon Jesus Basement In The Sky Ep
First vinyl EP (12 in 4c cover) by the Canadian-born New York musician NEON JESUS, produced and composed with techno DJ and producer ABE DUQUE on the artist's newly founded label KALIMAN. NEON JESUS had already been active as a blues and rock musician for 15 years before the native Canadian settled in New York. Driven by the desire to elevate his music into completely unimagined spheres, the guitarist, who also visually corresponds to his stage name, explored the diverse electro and dance scene of the Big Apple. ABE DUQUE, legendary techno and house producer and DJ, became a friend and mentor who was instrumental in helping the guitarist and singer realize his vision of fusing raw, repetitive elements of blues and rock with the aesthetics of synths and drum machines. Shortly thereafter, NEON JESUS was the first person to perform with an electric guitar in Berghain. With Hey Mama and Gotcha he is now releasing two songs on 12 vinyl as a harbinger of his debut album Tabula Rasa, both co-composed and produced with ABE DUQUE. Plucking 4/4 bass drums, rising and falling synth chords, distorted riffs and solo fragments as well as the scratchy vocals of NEON JESUS form a synthesis of two concisely iconic musical styles on these two tracks that has never been heard before.
