Mass, a German rock band, was formed in 1973 by Günther V. Radny, Josef Hartl, Walter Speck, and Charles Frey. After the departure of Speck and his replacement by Gerd Schneider, the band faced personal struggles with drug problems. Mick Thackeray then joined as the guitarist, and Johannes Eder replaced Frey on drums. In April 1975, the band recorded an album in Munich, but due to Hartl's drug issues, it was never released, and the tapes are still missing. Hartl and Thackeray eventually left the band due to their personal struggles with drugs and alcohol. Despite the challenges, Mass continued with the arrival of Detlef "Dave" Schreiber as the new singer. The band persevered through troubled times, illustrating their resilience and dedication to their music. The band was also recently honored by Golden Core/ZYX, as one track each from Mass and Monsters can be found on the compilation “Sound & Action-German Hardrock & Heavy Metal Rarities Vol. 1”. In the course of this contact, the long overdue idea was born to offer Mass' debut album on CD (and again on vinyl) for the first time. This complete package is now available as a bundle and is therefore an absolute collector's item.
