Marty Holoubek Trio II
The second leader album is a trio work featuring top runners in the Japanese jazz scene, Shun Ishiwaka and May Inoue!Marty Holoubek, a bassist from South Australia who is rapidly gaining attention in the Japanese music scene, has contributed to works by a wide range of artists regardless of genre, including Terumasa Hino, Jim O'Rourke, Eiko Ishibashi, ermhoi, Takuro Ohada, Soushi Sakiyama, HIMI, Manami Kakudo, and Answer to Remember. Now, he releases his second leader album on LP record!This album features Shun Ishiwaka (Dr), who has participated in works and live performances by numerous artists such as Gen Hoshino, Kenshi Yonezu, Ayaka, KID FRESINO, Oozora Kimishima, Quruli, Ringo Sheena, Sakura Fujiwara, and Millennium Parade led by Daiki Tsuneta of King Gnu. May Inoue (Gt), who, despite his youth, has performed with legends like Isao Suzuki and Terumasa Hino, and is active with 'CRCK/LCKS,' has collaborated with top international musicians like Kurt Rosenwinkel and interacts with musicians from Asia, including Hong Kong, and Europe, particularly in London. In this work, Marty Holoubek showcases a wide range of his musicality. It includes delicate and atmospheric tracks like 'Naruyouninaru' (A-4), where he plays the upright bass, and Shun Ishiwaka's 'Room' (A-2). There are also more powerful tracks, reminiscent of SMTK, like 'Karuizawa' (B-1), where Holoubek switches to electric bass, and 'Polygon' (B-3) by May Inoue. Another highlight is 'Nagoya no Ie' (A-3), characterized by it's rhythmic changes. The album, mixed and mastered by Joe Talia, an Australian drummer/composer/producer, encapsulates the broad and rich musicality of Marty Holoubek.
