LARIZA Luminance

The music of "Luminance" opens the senses through the fascinating mix of contemporary jazz, electronic music, fusion jazz and avant-garde pop.

The new album "Luminance" (Unit Records, 2024) by the quintet Lariza will be released on November 1st, 2024. The album is the result of an intensive three-year creative phase in which band leader Lena-Larissa Senge (vocals, synths) together with her colleagues Lukas Schwegmann (drums, electronics), Raissa Mehner (guitar, electronics, vocals), Duy Luong (bass, electronics) and Lorenz Schönle (saxophone, flute, EWI, vocals) immersed themselves deeply in the world of tonal and rhythmic possibilities. The resulting compositions cross the usual thresholds of contemporary jazz, open up new sound spaces and fire the imagination.
Lena's voice sometimes functions as the main melody, sometimes as an accompanying voice or sounds in a polyphonic setting with saxophone and guitar. Through the use of electronics and effects, the voice and instruments are occasionally transformed into something synthetic, transforming the previously familiar into surreal structures.
