The songs explore youth, cycles of grief, family, acceptance, and the fleetingness of time. " 'There's nothing like the love that's in goodbye' was one of the first lines I wrote for the album and it captures the fabric of this music. It took me over 20 years to come to a place where I could start accepting my whole history. For years I had been pushing down pain, but after our daughter was born, I knew that I wanted to pass down something different than what had been passed down to me. I wanted to be whole, I wanted to face myself, my past, and the ones I love. I realized that my life had been quite beautiful, but also quite sad, and in order to accept myself, I had to start accepting it all. The album isn't about healing or resolution. It's a coming back into light, It's my story and the story of our family over time. "
