I don’t know how to describe myself as a musician, but I like to explore how sound events can create spatial arrangements in the mind and trigger proprioception… Or is it movement?
This album collects and refines around four years of experiments and statements. Early work responded directly to the visual cosmology of Philippe Shewchenko, who created the cover art.
The album title describes my attempts to process disparate influences through semi-improvisational compositions. It highlights my enthusiastic caution when selecting among representation, abstraction, sound, and silence.
It also hints at my trial-and-error approach to curating free-flowing explorations into a sequenced collection. Lastly, it might refer broadly to the successive approximations of all creative pursuits.
I hope that my recordings create opportunities for both confusion and clarity, which can occur simultaneously. Playback volume should, for the most part, promote psychoacoustic comfort. I wish you well.
