Presenting the trumpeter at the helm of an excellent quintet with James Spaulding (alto saxophone & flute), Herbie Hancock (piano), Reggie Workman (bass), and Clifford Jarvis (drums), the album opens with a breathtaking performance of the standard “You’re My Everything†followed by 4 captivating Hubbard originals: “Prophet Jennings,†“Hub-Tones,†“Lament for Booker,†and “For Spee’s Sake.†This Blue Note 80 Vinyl Edition is all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
