Demon Slayer is the forthcoming album by transatlantic dreampop duo The Blue Herons, out April 3, 2026 on Shelflife Records on vinyl, CD, and digital.

Across the record, the band refine the sound they've become known for: wistful dreampop with a cinematic sense of space and emotion, where songs unfold like film scenes lit by sparkling guitars and clear, expressive vocals.

Drifting between jangle pop, atmospheric dreampop, and hazy jangle gaze, the album balances clarity and depth, with layered guitar melodies floating above softened shoegaze textures.
Since forming in 2020, Andy Jossi (Switzerland) and Gretchen DeVault (United States) have crafted a distinct, heartfelt sound built on glimmering guitars, carefully unfolding arrangements, and melancholy-tinged vocals paired with strong melodic hooks. On Demon Slayer, that foundation expands, revealing a broader sonic palette and deeper emotional range while remaining grounded in melody and movement.

Written over the course of a year, the album took shape through an inspired back-and-forth between two prolific songwriters trading sketches, melodies, and ideas across time zones. Despite the physical distance, the result feels immediate and deeply collaborative: two musical voices weaving texture and melody into something greater than the sum of its parts.

What emerges is a cohesive emotional world, intimate yet expansive, built to shimmer, swell, and linger long after the final track fades.
